Types Of Safari Vehicles
When planning a Tanzania Safari Experience, the type of vehicle used plays a significant role in comfort, accessibility, and overall wildlife viewing. The two main categories are closed safari vehicles and open-sided safari vehicles, each offering a unique experience depending on the destination and style of safari.
Open-Sided Safari Vehicles (Open Game Drive Vehicles)
Open-sided safari vehicles are commonly used in private reserves and conservancies. These vehicles are also preferred for clients who fly in or fly out to parks like Serengeti National Park.
It is particularly used by camps and lodges for clients who will not be traveling between different park destinations. These vehicles are fully open or semi-open, with no windows and often no roof (or a simple canopy).

Safari Vehicles Seating Arrangement
At Bestday Safaris, we place great emphasis on comfort and optimal wildlife viewing, which is why our safari vehicles are thoughtfully designed with a 6-seat configuration, arranged in two columns and three rows.
Each vehicle accommodates up to 6 guests, ensuring every passenger has a window seat. This layout eliminates the need for middle seating, allowing all guests to enjoy uninterrupted views of the surrounding landscapes and wildlife throughout the journey.
The seating is arranged in a forward-facing format, with two seats per row, providing ample personal space and easy access to and from the vehicle. The design also allows for smooth communication with the driver-guide and fellow travelers, enhancing the overall safari experience.
In addition, the seats are comfortably cushioned and ergonomically designed to support guests during long game drives, while the spacious interior ensures sufficient legroom and freedom of movement. Combined with large windows and the pop-up roof, this seating arrangement offers excellent visibility from every angle—whether seated or standing during wildlife viewing.
This carefully planned configuration ensures that every guest enjoys a comfortable, private, and immersive safari experience from start to finish.
