Mount Meru Climb
Mount Meru stands at 4,566 meters (14,980 feet) within Arusha National Park. It sits about 70 kilometers west of Mount Kilimanjaro, and many climbers choose it as practice before the bigger mountain. Others come for Meru itself. Most people reach the summit in 3 to 4 days, which gives the trek a compact, focused feel.
The trail usually begins with watching wildlife around. You may pass giraffes, buffalo, or other animals early on, which is why an armed ranger joins the route. From there, the climb follows the Momella Route, rising through changing scenery toward the summit. The huts are simple, shared, and practical. Meru gives climbers a strong taste of altitude, effort, and mountain pace, which is exactly why it helps so much before Kilimanjaro. Then you reach the top, look out, and on a clear day, Kilimanjaro is there in the distance.

At 5,895 meters, Kilimanjaro is not a small mountain you simply walk up. The altitude is serious, and poor decisions show quickly. Cheap climbs often cut the wrong things. Good guides, proper gear, and real safety support are what truly matter.
