For all travelers arriving Arusha can use two Airports, i.e Arusha Airport and Kilimanjaro International Airport. Arusha Airport ( ARK ) serves only domestic flights and Kilimanjaro Airport ( JRO) receives International Flights. For all travelers with Arusha safari can fly directly to Kilimanjaro Airport.

If you fly to Dar Es Salaam Airport you can arrives Arusha through flight or bus. With flight you can fly to Arusha Airport or Kilimanjaro Airport. You can book your flight with Air Tanzania, Precision Air, Flightlink Airline, or Coastal Aviation.  With bus you book your ticket with famous platform such as BusBora or directly to Extra Luxury, Marangu Coach and Tilisho Safari.

If you fly to Jomo Kenyata International Airport, you can fly directly to Kilimanjaro International Airport via Precision Air. However, you can use daily shuttles that serves two schedules per day, in the morning and afternoon at 0800hrs and 1400hrs respectively. You can book with Riverside shuttle or Ngurdoto Mountain Shuttle.

For all tourist planning for Arusha safari, Arusha town is accessible all the time and most of the roads are tarmac. The public transport means is through daladala. Staying in Daladala can be uncomfortable as it becomes overcrowded, and most routes cost around 500TZS, which is around 0.25 US$.

However, you can choose to use Taxis, most of the route in town cost between 5000- 50,000 TZS which is around 2.5- 20 US$

Arusha Safari can be done throughout the year. The best time to visit the Park is during dry season. In Arusha dry season is between June to October. Some of the vegetation become thin and its easier to spot animals to northern part of the park. November to March, Arusha do have short rains and April to May its heavy rains. The park receives less tourists.

The distance from Arusha to Kilimanjaro Airport is 45kms. Its takes about 1hour drives from Arusha City to the Airport.

Most of the International flight require travellers to arrives 2hrs before departure time. So for tourists who will be having Arusha safari, you need to plan to Arrives Arusha Town 3.5 to 4hrs prior to departure time. Arusha get traffic in the morning and evening, so if you will be going to the airport during busy time you will need to add some extra minutes in case you get stuck at the traffic.

On your arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport you can directly arrange Private taxi to Arusha with local driver. Normally Airport local drivers waits at exit gates of the airport waiting for travelers arriving.

Most local taxi drivers will charge you between 50-100 US$ for the transfer from Kilimanjaro Airport to Arusha City.


We advise tourist arriving for Arusha safari to book directly with their Tour Operator as it will be much safer, cheaper and easier to meet you for the transfer.


If you feel you in budget, there shuttles at the Kilimanjaro airport to Arusha depending on the airline you will be using. It will cost you around 10$ per person for the shuttle.


In case you miss a shuttle to Arusha, you can take a taxi from the Kilimanjaro Airport to KIA junction, and take public bus ( Dala Dala ). For the transfer from Airport to KIA Junction will be around 5 US$ and Daladala to Arusha will be around 2US$. However, this mode of transport is only for those who are not in hurry, as Daladala will be having a lot of stop along the way to Arusha picking up and dropping off passengers.

Shanga is non profit community project, it employs disabled people. The project employs around 50 Tanzanian with disabilities.  The project was initiated for the purpose of empower the disabled to show their ability in creativity.

The workshop has variety of activities such as blowing of glasses, recycling pans, metal work, pots paper, metal work, bead making weaving as well as beading.  Through creativity of this disabled community, the project has produced beautiful necklaces, and jewelry that are being sold in Tanzania and some being exported overseas.

Lake Duluti is located in Arusha just 10 minutes drive from the city center. Its one of the volcanic crater with a size of 800m width and 1.1km length and it is fiund on an elevation of 1,290 meters and an elevation of 1290m.

The lake is surround with a forest and attract variety of beautiful birds such as egrets, grey herons, kingfishers and fish eagles. Others attractions includes baboons, black faced vervet monkey, reptiles etc.

You can also enjoy canoeing at the lake, where by you can have best view of Mount Meru and Kilimanjaro Mountain.
